October 17th Planning meeting We are planning the seminar talks for this semester.
Thursday, November 7th Hyeonjae Kim (Freie Universität Berlin) Immer der Nase nach: der geodätische Fluss
This is a student presentation and therefore does not include an abstract
Thursday, November 14th Abderrahim Azouani (Sultan Moulay Slimane University (Morocco)) Parameter estimation using continuous data assimilation methods
In this presentation, I will explore the application of the AOT (Azouani-Olson-Titi) continuous data assimilation algorithm, a method inspired by feedback control theory, to enhance parameter estimation in the SEIR (Susceptible-Exposed-Infectious-Recovered) epidemic model. Our primary focus is on accurately estimating the infection rate parameter, which is crucial for understanding and predicting the dynamics of epidemics. The presentation will showcase significant examples demonstrating the effectiveness of our proposed method. I will illustrate how the algorithm substantially improves the accuracy of parameter recovery, even when confronted with measurement errors and idealized model assumptions. This robustness underscores the potential of our approach in real-world scenarios where data is often imperfect. Furthermore, I will extend our discussion to the application of this method to the 2D Navier-Stokes equations, specifically in the context of unknown viscosity.

Time and Place

Talks usually take place on Thursdays at 14:15, SR 140 in Arnimallee 7, 14195 Berlin

Guests are always welcome!
